Creative Schools aimed to create a step change in the way cultural education in east London is planned, delivered, and financed.
One of the first projects funded through A New Direction’s London Cultural Challenge, Creative Schools was developed as the flagship programme of the East London Cultural Education Partnership, a consortium of cultural education organisations led by Barbican / Guildhall School of Music & Drama; six east London Music Education Hubs representing eight local authorities; 70+ cultural and education organisations; and A New Direction (A.N.D).
Between 2015-18 the programme joined up experience, knowledge and expertise to explore place-based approaches to brokering, developing and delivering creative learning opportunities in schools in order to improve access to east London’s incredible arts and cultural assets for all children and young people.
